Things The Elves Want You To Know

Elves pride themselves on sharing knowledge. They like to make sure that anyone they work with knows how things will go and what to expect. And, of course, there are some rules that need to be followed - Elves like to follow the rules and they are especially fond of those that follow the rules!

Here you will find FAQs, Policies and other important information you need to know before working with the Elves! Please read them all!

FAQs

How does this work?

It is actually pretty cool! First, you decide that you want to make someone smile with a personal lawn message. Next, you order that message from LawnElves.com (we will walk you through the whole process). Then, on your special day, the Elves spring into action! They will head to the designated address, and with stealth, Elven precision, place your message on the front lawn of the property. The next morning, or later that day depending on when you want the message delivered, your loved one, co-worker, boss, or whomever will see their message and smile from ear-to-ear!

How do I order?

 

Simply click on the red box "Book Online Now" and complete the inquiry form. Once you do this, the Elves will contact you to verify the message and date. If all is good, and that message is available, the Elves will send you a confirmation invoice.

What are the payment methods and when do I pay?

The Elves accept payments through PayPal only (you do not have to have a PayPal account to complete the process). Once you have confirmed your order with the Elves you will need to process your payment in order for your scheduled delivery to enter the system. If the Elves do not have a payment processed at least 48 hours prior to the placement your order will be cancelled.

When will my message be placed?

Typically, we ask that you schedule placement by the Elves at least a week in advance. They will accept orders as late as 24 hours but a $25 fee will be added for any orders within 48 hours of placement. Once it is placed and paid for, the elves will hop to it the night before so the message is ready and waiting first thing in the morning! An example is - message needed for Friday, August 10th is placed the prior evening (typically after dusk) on August 9th.

For daytime deliveries, for when a loved one comes home from school or work for their message or for some business applications, the Elves will deliver early in the day at as close to a specified time as possible. Please let the Elves know of at least two hours BEFORE someone would arrive home for their message if it is a daytime delivery.

There are exceptions! For example, Elves realize that babies rarely give much notice when they enter the world. If that occurs and you want a message quick they like to try an accommodate. AND, because elves love babies so much, there is no extra charge for babies!!!

Can I keep the message for a few days?

Sure! The Elves can come back a few days later if you like. There is a $49 per day extra charge that you can request when ordering.

Can I send someone a message at another address?

Yes - However there are some things that must be done:
 

The elves will need a contact person at the recipient address who we can communicate with so that they know the rules and how we operate. If we don't have a contact person we may have to pass - we will address it on a case-by-case basis.

If, for any reason, there is damage to the signs because the recipient removes, changes, alters any part of the message or equipment for the messages you will be charged $50. We may require a refundable deposit for this situation. Again, case-by-case.

What if I need to cancel?

Because Elves are really efficient, they live by their calendars! So, if you need to cancel they ask that you give at least 48 hours notice. If it happens after that, the elves still get paid.

Is there a circumstance when the Elves won't deliver my message?

In some instances, like really severe weather, the Elves may not be able to place your message. If your message might be delayed the Elves will contact you to discuss options like delivery at a later, less dangerous time. In the event that there simply isn't a time that will work out you will get a full refund or a credit for you to place another message if you choose.

Will I see the Elves?

Elves are pretty shy by nature, but it depends. Sometimes you may not care if the Elves show themselves during the day. For example, maybe you are a realtor and want the elves to put out an “Open House” message for you and it's cool if that happens during the day.

Most times, the Elves will be in and out without being seen. That is what they do best!

Will I know when the Elves are arriving?

While we do not give you a heads up prior to arrival please know that any time after dark on the day of your delivery you can expect the elves.

 

The Elves ask that you put away your dogs so they don’t alert the whole world to their existence – dogs are pretty good at that! If you know that a neighbor might be the curious type, it doesn’t hurt to let them know that you have hired the Elves so they don’t call the authorities – the Elves wouldn’t last a minute in the slammer!

Do you always place the “LawnElves.com” sign?

Yes, we do. It is the best way for the Elves to get business and keep them from taking other less elf friendly jobs. The great thing is that the sign is cute and the Elves place it over to the side so it isn’t intrusive to your message.

Do the Elves accept tips?

Tips are always appreciated but not expected - thank you in advance. 

One of the greatest tips we can receive is a testimonial on our Facebook page (@Lawn Elves) a page follow and being tagged in any social media post you put out there (we are on Instagram as well @lawnelves) 

The Rules (AKA Policies & Procedures)

While Elves don’t particularly like telling humans what to do, they realize there are some things that you need to know before ordering and when your message is placed.

 

Please, do not let people climb on the signs. Although made by Elves (notoriously great builders), they aren’t strong enough to hold people up and someone could get hurt, especially kiddo. They get sad when people get hurt. LawnElves.com is not responsible if you disobey this rule.

 

Please do not remove the signs yourself! The Elves love their jobs and like to see them through to completion. If you take out the signs or damage them they may ask you to replace them at your expense.

 

If you are purchasing a message for someone at an address other than yours, please let someone at that address know that the message is coming! Ask them to also respect the rules here. If they are not happy with the message or want it removed, please contact LawnElves.com at 636-206-6288 and we will remove the message ourselves. However, there is no refund if this would occur.

 

The Elves are not responsible for any damage that may occur from the placing of the message. If you have an underground sprinkler system it is wise to let the elves know where the lines are BEFORE they place your message.

 

Please do not attach anything to the signs that make up the message. If they get damaged because you attach something to them the elves will ask you to pay for the damage.

 

The Elves LOVE IT when you take pictures with the messages they deliver! However, please do not move or remove the placement of the signs.

 

Please do not remove the LawnElves.com sign that will be placed with your message. The Elves place one with EVERY message. However, they are cute and will not interfere with your message as they are typically placed to the side of the message.

 

In the event that severe weather could strike before a message is delivered, the Elves will contact you to discuss options. They simply cannot deliver messages in severe weather for safety reasons. If the weather may become sever once placed, the Elves may have to come remove the message early. This is rare and the Elves will communicate that with you before it happens.

 

The Elves can only deliver messages to addresses for homes and businesses that they can verify before hand. Sorry, but the Elves cannot deliver to apartment complexes unless the management of the complex is the one ordering for business purposes.

 

LawnElves.com and the delivering Elves (all representatives) are not responsible or liable for any injury or damage that may be caused to any person or personal property during the set-up or removal of any rental.

 

Since most of these messages are placed at night, the Elves suggest that you check the message BEFORE alerting your loved one to come and see the message. This is done in case Mother Nature blows down a letter or a mischievous bridge troll or other creature decides to mess with the message, rearrange letters, etc. If the latter occurs, please contact LawnElves.com immediately at 636-206-6288 – the Elves will do their best to come and fix the situation.

Refund policy:

  • In the event that you have to cancel your message delivery, this must be completed at least 48 hours BEFORE the scheduled delivery, in writing by email to HeadElf@LawnElves.com - ATTN: Cancellation and your name. Any time within the 48 hour window, and the Elves will still get paid.

  • In the event of inclement weather, the Elves may not be able to set up any messages. Inclement weather includes lightning/thunderstorms, heavy rain, snow/ice, high winds and any other Act of God that would put the Elves or our inventory at risk. The Elves WILL communicate with you about this beforehand. If this occurs, you can either ask that the message is still delivered AFTER the weather has settled down or possibly request a refund or credit for a later date.

  • No refunds will be given due to the client giving the Elves the wrong address.

  • No refunds will be given due to the homeowner/recipient requesting the Elves to remove the lawn display.

  • No refunds will be given due to the Elves being denied access to a gated community.

  • No refunds will be given due to any animals that prevent the Elves from setting up the display.

  • No refunds will be given for circumstances that prevent the Elves from setting up the display that are out of our control.
